Printer recycling- Take responsibility.
Saturday, September 26th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedIn today’s world being environmentally friendly is something that we should all try and be from simple things like being energy efficient in our homes to recycling electronic products such as mobile phones, computer and printers. This will help improve the state of our environment over the coming years.
Many people think that they can not make a difference by themselves. However, if everyone did their bit then this would add up to a huge improvement. It all starts with recycling products such as printers and not simply dumping them in landfills that are already overcrowded with non-degradable products.
Recycling programmes are important and you can make a difference by using it to its full extent. At work is where the majority of wastage occurs so ask your manager or CEO if they are involved in a printer recycling programme where all the printers, ink cartridges and old computers can be appropriately disposed of. If they are not part of such a programme then offer to do some research into finding the nearest programme so they can get involved. It will also look good if their company is seen to be acting in an environmentally friendly way.
The environment is a hot topic as of late and despite the efforts of some companies and organisations, their efforts may prove futile if more is not done. These recycling programmes are designed in the best interests of the environment and everyone should try and do their bit to help.
The problem when printers, mobile phones, computer and other electronic products are not recycled properly is that these items contain poisonous materials such as plastics, lead, chromium and mercury. If you just dump these products in a landfill these harmful materials will eventually enter into our water supply which is dangerous.
We should all take some responsibility and do our bit to ensure that printers and other electronics are either recycled or reused appropriately. This will mean we have a safer environment for years to come.
Before choosing a IT disposals company, get in contact with them and ask if there are any stipulations as there may be certain items that they can not accept to be recycled. Help protect the environment and save on e-waste by doing simple things to ensure your printer or computer is suitable recycled.
